I am creating a gable end wall and have become stuck on how I can accomplish it (see the attached picture for the CAD drawing). I started by creating a wall and attempting to cut an opening and infill with a different wall type. Problem is, I can't figure out how to cut a wall with a geometric shape. I can only find "wall opening" which only does a rectangle. The siding area is set back from the trim about 3" and contains a louver. Should I create the wall as the siding wall set back and apply trim to the face? That doesn't seem right though, Any suggestions on how to get this right?

"Problem is, I can't figure out how to cut a wall with a geometric shape. I can only find "wall opening" which only does a rectangle." Pick in the wall and in the options bar You have "Edit Profile" then draw inside the lines magenta new lines with thew shape you want for your wall...

Look at my attached jpg. I have a base wall ... I then created an in-place family, wall category, that is a void which cuts the wall to the depth I want....then I simply used my paint bucket to put the finish in the recessed area.

Since the gable contains a louver, I would think that the best way to do this would be with a family (ie, a window family constructed like a louver). You could modify it so that it cuts the way that you want, and it wouldn't necessarily need to be parametric.

The whole area is not a louver so no - I don't think I would do that. The louver would be a stock louver in the recessed area.
