Attention School Administrators / Instructors:

Welcome.

We know that this site will be valuable to you and your students.  However, we encourage you to take an active role in monitoring your student's use of the site.  Offensive, vulgar or disruptive posts by any one user in the chatroom or forums may result in the blocking of your complete IP from the entire RevitCITY site.

Because we do not have the means or the responsibility to monitor your students, may we suggest that you instruct your students according to this policy and that you take an active role in registering your student user-names and monitor their chatroom activity.

Thank you,
RevitCITY

first i would like to say that i am at peace with revit city

and i admire and respect everyone at revit city and it's

basically been like that for me since 2006..

but i don't understand all this recent stuff about

revit city being the victim of attacks and users

must not post "vulgar" comments and if they

do they will be dealt with in the most severe

fashion etc. etc..

i mean i just don't really believe any of this

is realistic or necessary..

and whoever is doing this- please don't attack me-

i'm just being honest..

honestly- i've never seen or heard of any

of that kind of stuff in all these years i've been

at revit city..

but i'm not saying anything about it that's for sure..

"honestly- i've never seen or heard of any of that kind of stuff in all these years i've been at revit city.." - Because you don't use our "Chatroom" every day...

Typhoon-

you're not making any sense.. you said because

i don't use the chatroom.. which is kind of true- but i do

use the forums.. please read what you are responding to..

anyway- moderators never created all this strife in the past-

why now? constantly we are all hearing about attacks and

getting emails about attacks and posting about how users

need to control other users and threats and on and on..

seriously i think something is wrong at revit city and

revit city is still the best Revit forum on the net..

why can't you moderators just stop talking about

all that kind of stuff.. i don't believe it exists anyway..

and if anyone ever DID post something in violation

of the rules- simply delete it- no war needed..

this should not be happening at all and i'm sure

you know that Typhoon..

i'm just trying to help save something good..

Typhoon-

i don't really want to say anything about that kind of stuff-

and i'm not worried about it-

i just want to be able to do Revit work even near as good

as you do..

"....anyway- moderators never created all this strife in the past-why now?"  WW create this thread "Thu, Feb 12, 2009 at 10:46:10 PM" so this issue is not new, has more than 2 years.

"...and if anyone ever DID post something in violation of the rules- simply delete it- no war needed.." - there are rules in revitcity that were created by Administrators and those rules are to be followed.

"...constantly we are all hearing about attacks and getting emails about attacks..." - I believe this is the price we must pay for being the best site for Revit in the world...

Vector,

You are badly mistaken about the history of the site but that is because you are a member, not a moderator. RevitCITY is a free site and open to all but from the beginning, the creators established rules of use.  Because some individuals will never play by the rules, the site creators also added a means to remove those individuals from the membership.  They quickly discovered that these individuals, like you, would simply create another identity and come back and make even more offensive posts.  Their only solution to stop this abuse was to block the users IP address.

Again, the site owners, creators, put these tools in place because of the problems, not the moderators.  The fact that you have not witnessed these roblems or actions is good.  That means the volunteers on this site have been doing what they were asked to do.

My post in 2009 was because of my frustration in dealing with these schools.  I don't like banning an entire school because of a single abusive user but we have little recourse.  This post was an attempt to point out the problem to the school administrators so they would take appropriate action.  We also try to contact the school directly if we can identify them.  Most of these school admistrators though, don't monitor how their students identify themselves, they just turn them loose on the site.

Over the last few years, we have successfully worked with several dozen schools, lifting their blocks and giving them the reason for the blocks so that they can take appropriate action.  All of them apologized for their schools, thanked us and are now working to make sure their students are respectful to the other users of this site.

okay HUB that's fine- i don't want a war- just do the best you can..

and the ONLY "offensive post" i EVER posted was to ask whatever

moderator was creating all this strife to stop acting like children..

if that offended one of them i'm sorry..

i understand how a moderator can get "frustrated"- but you still

need to try and act professional.. and yes i have read thousands

and thousands of revit city posts- and i rarely seen words posted

that were "offensive" or that couldn't simply be deleted so we

could all learn Revit in peace.. i'm just suggesting HUB- please

calm down.. thanks..

I like how this post that originally was posted in 2009 is "suddenly" a reference to virus attacks that have nothing to do with this original post... how do you even see a correlation between the email that was sent out and this post? It's not even remotely connected.

Also, dead post is dead. gg

Need help? I'm probably in my chat room!

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a land war in asia, but only slightly less well known is this! Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!

viruses are everywhere- you probably have some and don't know it..

just eat good and exercise regular and get plenty of sleep and you

won't even know they are there.. and keep learning more about

Revit..
