is there a way to create a parameter for a curtain wall mullion to calculate a number of screws per linear foot of mullions? example 1 screw every 6 inches of mullion? and is it possible to bring that to a schedule?

other question is is there a way to create a restraint or parameter for the mullions to not exceed a certain length? like maximum 8 ft? because we have a project with strict standards.

thanks in advance

hey typhoon,

I figured how to calculate for the screws. I just used a calculated valuein theschedule. length of each mullion divided by the screw spacing= number of screws

the other problem I had was calculating the total length of vertical mullions. this was a quick fix it actually came to me in a dream as stupid as that sounds. all you have to do is create a MULLION GRID parameter. you select all the mullions in on vertical row and assign them a grid name. then in the schedule all you have to do is group them by mullion grid and voila the total lengths of your vertical mullions.

as for calculating the maximum lengths of  you take the total run of the vertical mullion grid and use a calculated value. total MULLION GRID length divided by maximum allowable length = how many pices you need.

hope this helps someone

nice one Paul Smile

almost anything can be calculated with schedule
