I am new to using revit and am currently working on a test project. I have imported architectural acad drawings as my template for a first floor framing plan. After placing my structural walls and designating whether they are shear, bearing or both I try to place windows and doors into there corresponding locations but constantly recieve an error saying I can not cut the specified dimensions (based on the window and door families). I have tried almost all sizes provided within the family but still get the same warning. How do can I get these elements into my walls? Also how do I define vertical and horizontal planes?

Not much data here, have you established levels, are the walls connected to the levels perhaps your walls are too short for the windows to cut. Have you set up building elevations, and or 3D. Please take snap shot of what you have so far and post here.
