Hi I am using Revit Structure 2009 but this is a general revit question.

I'm finally getting around to setting up a template file for our projects and I want to fill it with a number of view templates.

One view template I want to include would have vg overrides set up for Linked Rvt Files.

I can't seem to get the vg override settings to remain when I start a new project from this template.

The View Template that I created and named remains but all the settings need to be reset.

Does anyone know how to get those overrides to remain the way I established them in my original rte without reconfiguring them in each project?

Please help, THANKS!

Sorry - linked files are specific to the links so setting up view templates would be a problem ... except ... If you linked in a nothing file - then re-link that file when you have something...it may work.  Problem is coordination and placement of the linked file.

Seems to be way too much hassel ... just add to the view templates later.

yeah I tried linking in a nothing file and it maintained some but not all of the settings

I.E. it kept my projection pattern override color but not pattern and it had all categories on or off the way I had left it

I then repathed a clients file and it worked ok. With the original file linked in by auto origin the new link did keep it's resepective origin correctly.

I might explore that a little more however......

I think I'm going to resort to just setting up linked rvt settings in view templates at the beginning of each project.

Wish we wouldn't have to.

Wish wish wish and a handfull of wishes.
