MISCELLANEOUS WISH LIST FOR AUTODESK! I USE REVIT ARCHITECTURE 2009...

  1. EXTERIOR ELEVATION TAGS AND INTERIOR ELEVATION TAGS ARE TREATED SEPARATELY (E.G. “HIDING IN VIEW” BY CATEGORY TREATS THEM SEPARATELY)
  2. MASKING WORKS IN “PAPER SPACE” ON SHEETS, NOT JUST ON MODEL VIEWS.
  3. ENLARGED PLAN CALLOUTS CAN BE “L” SHAPED OR A SHAPE OTHER THAN JUST A RECTANGLE….NICE TO TRACE SHAPES TO ENLARGE L-SHAPED AREAS OF THE PLAN.
  4. BE NICE OF YOUR PLOTS OF SHEETS WAS  NOT AFFECTED BY ‘ACTIVATE/DEACTOVATE VIEW” (CURRENTLY THEY GREY OUT IF THE VIEW IS ACTIVATED.
  5. POLYLINES IN DRAFTING! NOT JUST CHAIN-LINES….
  6. MAKE AREA PLANS LIKE SKETCH MODE SO THAT YOU CANNOT EDIT THE MODEL, BUT ONLY DRAW AREA ZONES FOR CALCULATING AREAS! TOO MANY ACCIDENTAL NUDGES WHILE TRYING TO EDIT THE AREA BOUNDARY ITSELF.
  7. FILTER WINDOW IS VERY USEFUL BUT HAS CLUNKY INTERFACE. WE BE GREAT IF IT COULD BE LEFT OPEN AS A SMALL WINDOW IN THE CORNER OF YOUR SCREEN WHILE YOU WORK SO YOU COULD CONTINUALLY SEE WHAT YOU HAVE SELECTED. MAKE THE SELECTION FILTER STAY VISIBLE ON THE SCREEN AS YOU ADD TO OR SUBTRACT SELECTIONS…
  8.

I think all of these except for the masking region & # 7 have been wished for by others.

The masking region in "paperspace" (BAD TERM HERE!) can be accomplished through a family.  We use a sketch template family that fully masks the sheet except for a controlled window.

AND BTW - DON"T YELL AT US - WE ARE NOT AUTODESK!

I was also told by Autodesk peeps- that they are going to have the elevation tags be editble so that we're not stuck with the square+"arrow" for the rest of our lives!

My wish list is a dumb one- but it would be nice to have the DIM option in Modeling Tab. It's pretty much everywhere else!!!

And I agree with the rest of his list- ESPECIALLY the Area planning line work. I don't know how often I go to trim the line- and it's trimming the walls.

TC WW!
