How long have you been using Revit?  And have you implemented Revit before or been part of an implementation?

Correct implementation requires a lot of experience in order to understand how best to setup the systems for that particular practice.  Different resellers have different understandings of what "implementation" truly is.

I'm not sure what your Autodesk Resellers interpretation is...

I don't believe implementation as being: setting up a basic template, setting up titleblocks, setting up an initial project and giving some basic training on how it works over a week or two.  This is giving a company just enough information to send them into the deep end without teaching them to swim.  A complete system needs be developed and transferred effectively.  A good implementation takes at least 3 months!

Hopefully you've used Revit on a large variety of typologies and have learn the best ways to setup projects, systems etc to be the most effective.  If not, then they aren't really offering an implementation service but rather a revit getting started guide.

Sorry, I'm not really answering your question, but its because I truly dislike the "getting started" type so called implementations and have heard from many many companies how they've been burnt by not being given all the facts and tools necessary.

True, everyone has to start somewhere...  It's just best if its your own office.

Well a good template is developed by doing projects.  It should always be changing, being revised to be more effective/efficient after lessons learnt from each project.

If they don't have an active project, then take their most recent, most "perfect" project.  Everyone always have rush job projects that don't meet any system.  Try to best match that, whether it be AutoCAD or something else, without limiting or requiring workarounds in revit.  Its also a good idea to sit down with them to discuss the types of things they want to see improved and try to implement those as well.  Find out their types of projects and advise of best project setups and how to best delegate project teams... etc etc.

That's where I'd start anyway.

thank you so much thats the most constructive advice anyones ever given me since I began at this reseller. Today we had a meeting with the team that will be inplementing the first project. I have an Idea of what they want and whats beneficial to them. I just don't want to waste their time I would like them to get as interested in revit as everyone  on this forum.

so they have a "pet" project to start on. its a small edu. facility. It was a past project that they are familiar with. they also work with sketchup. I thought of doing the educational facility and inseting their standards as we go. at the end could I not just save a copy of the project delete the objects in it and save it as an RTE file?
