I am trying to import a complex 3D file from AutoCAD into Revit. The file will import from AutoCAD as a 3D block but when I try to show shadows it does not show any. When it is exploded it converts to 2D only. When imported in to SKP then RVT it does not work. What I am trying to do is create a Revit file that I am able to use .ies photometeric web files to show a basic 3D rendered model of how the lights will reflect off of the geometery. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make this work?

Have you tried creating a mass and importing the skp file into the mass? In the past I have used many sketchup and 3d cad files and have never had this problem..... I think.
