Hello,
Could anyone help me to create a Arched opening on a curved wall? The steps I have followed is-
1.Create a curved wall.
2.Create ref. plane tangential to the curved face.
3.Create void form of reqiured form/shape.
4.Cut goemetry.
The problem here is that the void form cuts thro the wall in a shape perpendicular to the ref. plane. I want a void form that is tangentially perpendiclular to the wall. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
Radhika.

Hi, create a "Generic Model Wall Based" family with a void like do you want then load to the project and apply to the wall....

I know it has been awhile since you posted this but I just read it and created the void but can not get it to create the opening in the wall. The void seams to be in place and locked to each side of the wall but no opening. Thanking you in advanced for your help.

Also if you could help me with getting the arch line to attach to the top reference plane.

In your family just go to "modify" tab and select "Cut Geometry" tool then select the void and the wall...

"Also if you could help me with getting the arch line to attach to the top reference plane." - What ref. plane? you don't have any TOP ref. plane in your family! what do you mean?

Thanks for your response but I'm still having trouble inserting the arch opening on a radius wall. it now does cut completely through a regular wall, but when it is inserted on a radius wall I can see it opening on the inside of radius but it does not cut completely through. Do you have any idea what is going on. Also I can not pick the opening in the radius wall once it is inserted and move it along the wall.

bellgroup,

1. The family you uploaded has a void in it that doesn't cut the wall.  Cut the voidinto the wall.

2. Make this a window family, I'm not sure why this is a Generic Model.

3. Take the existing window family and offset a reference plane from the face of the wall and lock it. Give it no less than 2 inches, but no more than 5 inches. Lock it down. Do the same for both sides of the wall.

4. Lock the Void to the front and back of those reference planes.

5. Load it into the project.

This solves the void issue, the top offset reference line thing is unclear to me. Let me know if this helps, then we can take the next step.

Cheers,
