Hello there, I have made a hatch with Hatchkit that is 16x8 CMU with a sand pattern on top of it. When I load it into Revit, it's visible, unless I zoom out a ways and then it turns grey. When I try to print, it just prints a white fill! I even rememved the sand pattern and it was just CMU and it still doesnt' print. But it does print Revits default CMU pattern. Any ideas as to how to fix this? Thanks, Lorne

Hi Lorne, If you upload the .PAT pattern with screenshots and details of your Revit and O/S we may be able to help. Also there is an email address on the "About HatchKit" that can be used to quickly advise of HatchKit problems or suggestions. Hello, I've attached a Revit Screren Shot and Hatchkit. I am using Revit 2009 64 Bit, Vista 64 Bit, 4GB RAM, quadprocessor. I don't know why it's not printing. Can anyone tell me why? Thanks, Lorne

lorne ... it may be that the scale of your hatch is so small that you only get a grey pattern. check your units out

No it's correct. Cuz when I delete the sand hatch and just import the CMU hatch, it is the correct size. 16x8. But even just that simple hatch doesn't print. So I know the scale is correct.

This kind of hatch really eats up the memory.... why use it? In most cases, the standard block pattern is enough.

I agree, but not in this case. We are trying to show Itegrally Colored CMU in our Elevations. Some walls are one color, other walls are another. Since we don't print in color as do most sets printed, we need to use a hatch pattern. I could use a filled region and make it transparent and draw that around all our windows, doors, downspouts and everything else on the surface of the wall. But if I could just paint the wall with this new hatch, then it would work the way we want it too. Make sense? So in this case, having this hatch pattern would make life so easy. You're right most other cases we just use the regular pattern for CMU and it works just dandy.

Even if the hatch worked that you want, it wouldn't be of much use in doing what you want to do. At best you might have two patterns. One with the block and one with the screened block. Why do do what we have always done in drafting and just use a key elevation with different hatches to represent what goes where? It doesn't have to look like block to achieve that.

Well that's what I plan to do with the elevation. Have a key that shows the two hatch patterns. I guess I could stray from the CMU hatch and change it to something else. It's just then our 3D views don't have the CMU hatch and it would look funny. Whoever is looking at the drawings will have to do a double take to know that it's CMU. I just think having CMU with a sand pattern or something else would be a good use to show that it is CMU and have a distinct difference between that and the other color cmu. I thought Hatchkit would make this easy. But obviously it hasn't at all.

Lorne, we welcome all feedback. Please upload the .PAT file or send it to the email address shown on the HatchKit "About HatchKit" panel. Also, what printer driver are you printing through? Vanishing hatches have occurred with some AutoCAD plotter drivers. Hugh Adamson Cadro Pty Ltd www.hatchkit.com.au

Hugh, Printer driver I'm unsure of, It's an HP LaserJet 5550, Doesn't work on the HP Deskjet 500 either. I've attached the Hatch. I sent it in this morning to the email address on the contact us page at your site. Thanks, Lorne

Hi Lorne, Yes you did and thanks, my bad for not checking my entire intray. The problem you encountered is that the HatchKit Demonstration Version watermarks the patterns it creates as an inducement to purchase of a licensed version. Obviously any watermark should always be visible to avoid confusion - we need to fix this. The attached CMU + sand pattern has no watermark. I hope it helps progress.
