I ham having a problem with the Weld Symbol family that is standard to Revit 9.  I can create a weld symbol in a drafting view and it looks fine.  When I save the file to a new view (as we do for standard details) and then import that same view there is a large gap between the weld symbol and the leader?  What is going on?

Revit attaches the beginning of the leader to the outer edge of the family geometry, even if the geometry is currently invisible. I would guess if you turned on the All Around or Tail options, you would see the leader is touching them. Unfortunately, this means you can't get it to attach to the center of the All Around circle, it will always attach to the edge. It's just something we''l have to deal with for now.

Check this thread for a better weld symbol family I made: http://www.revitcity.com/forums.php?action=viewthread&thread_id=10407

A dodgy workaround to bridge the gap that gets left between a leader a symbol is to draw a very short horizontal line in your symbol exactly half way between the 2 furthest points of your symbol. Then after you load the symbol into the project and add leader- the leader will align with the gap fill line that you drew.
