TYPHOON

How did you create that tile?

Is each one individual?

and doingt a whole roof like that would take forever to render or bog the file down, correct?

No, this tiles ara a family like you can see in the image, the whole model you can see now in the image attached and Yes, increase the file size but this ALL 3D, when you create the section views you don't need to create 2D details for this because it's all done.... The render it's OK, my machine works good with this...

that makes sense, not to be a pain or anything but do you know of a tutorial or something to help show me how to actually apply that to a regular roof?

How you attach it to the ridge on the slope and the main roof.

I have done somethine similar with a metal roof. I created a profile, then did a mass, profile sweep and applied it to the angle of the roof and then copied it a million times to cover the width of the roof. That really put a hurting on my computer but I didnt know any other way to do it.

First see this: 1º video: http://screencast.com/t/trJwHTYMmH   2º Video: http://screencast.com/t/QhyBfWqsO

This two videos explain how you can create in 3d the whole roof, NOT the RIDGES, and the Corners but the roof it self. The ridges, the corners and the edges i put in attached ....

Thank you for your help. I tried it out on a hip roof with four sides and i kind of got it to work. It is a little more difficult getting the joints to work with the slope and stuff.
