I am having difficulty understanding how to use keyscheduling.  I have a printed out work-through from AUGI CAD Camp - Chicago (Oct 14, 200Shadey but it is not clear on how to address what I am having trouble with.

I found a way to schedule windows and doors in the same schedule.  The answer was simple enough... just make your windows using the Door template!  Assign your parameters to your windows, save each type.  Same with Doors.  This has proved successful when scheduling them, but I am having one hang-up.  I have created seperate schedules of the 'Door & Window Schedule'.  This way we can show a count of how many doors have Closers, Seals, Latches, Hinges, Motors, and Misc. information (each it's own schedule).  We also use individual schedules to list Qty./Type (letter)/Description for Door/Window Type, Frame Type, Doo/Window Finish, and Frame Finish.

So that was pretty cool when I figured it out.  But here's the hang-up.  Those schedules I have created for hardware are also seeing my windows as well; even though I do not have those parameters assigned to the windows themselves; they show up as an extra row with blank entries and a quantity.  If I delete the row I delete the windows.  Is there some way to fix this?

Also, we wish to create a schedule that cross-references the number of different combinations of door hardware.  In AutoCAD we could do this by creating a table/schedule that had listed vertically the names of the abbreviated call-outs for the type of hardware (i.e., closers would be listed as CLOSER-01, CLOSER-02; latches as Mortise-01, Mortise-02, Push-Pull) across the top of the schedule and along the left (listed horizontally) we would create a letter that we could assign for each combination of hardware that we had referenced in the independant hardware schedules above.  The graphical representation for the schedule is simply a dot within the x-y boxes that the grid composed itself of.  We did this for a 'Harware' entry on our 'Door & Window Schedule'.  We also have an entry for each door/window called 'Elev. Type' which shows a letter for each graphical representation of the door/window it coorilates with.  If this is all confusing, I'm sorry; I will try attaching some files as well to help clear this all up.

Can I use a Key Schedule to show what I am wanting instead?  I can't seem to understand how to do the Key Scheduling either.

If it helps, here are the parameters I am working with for my doors & windows:

PDL Door 1 - Brown

Re: schedules:

I think two schedules would have worked better than having windows as doors.  You can always stack the schedules on a sheet so that it appears as one schedule....remember -you can turn off headers.

Now that you created this pickle.... add another category - maybe a yes/no - door y/n?  and use that as a filter.

Re - your hardware stuff... see this thread:http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=20344&highlight=schedule+dots
