I have tried this and had much trouble doing so. What I want to do is create a family of doors (simple) and a family of door hardware (simple) and have those two work together in a drawing titled 'DOORS'. This I managed to do; my goal here being able to make different combinations of doors with hardware. This works fine in the 'DOORS' file, but when I am in a template drawing I want to add those families so they will work in our standard default template as well. This way when we start a project we will aready have them loaded and ready to go. I have been able to bring in the 'DOORS' family in our default template file, but it didn't work so well. I had created different family styles for each combination of door with hardware (for a total of 36 styles). When I place the door within a wall, I could select the door style and change the panel, but the hardware would not change. The same hardware shows on my door regardless of which style I chose to change the door to. For now I have opted to simply draw the imagery of the hardware as a simple 2D design on the door panel itself. But what I really want to do is what I mentioned above. Can someone please help? I tried posting this once earlier today with the files attached so they could be dissected, but then my message didn't even post. If anyone can help and needs the file, I would be willing to e-mail it instead of trying to post it again. Thanks in advance! Mars
