Hello

I was wondering if anyone out there would like to explain to me how they organize/manage families.

  • Materials.... how to use/edit properly without duplication with-in a project
  • Location.... and what to do with back-ups
  • How to edit families without having all the proceding back-ups. and should you apply material with-in the family itself or make it editable so that you can apply the material with-in the project.

Thank you for your input

 Darrin

Some of your questions are not specific enough.

Materials.... how to use/edit properly without duplication with-in a projec - Good habits....

Location.... and what to do with back-ups -& How to edit families without having all the proceding back-ups -  Set the number of backups under Settings/Options

should you apply material with-in the family itself or make it editable so that you can apply the material with-in the project - The material is always editable in the project.  The project over-rides the family settings.  Don't leave it at default in the family if you want it to be specific.  Name it so that you can control it ... by project is best.
