I have been trying to model a curved roof in Revit and getting nowhere. The roof itself is a simple pitch, however the building itself curves around and I want the roof to do so (like a curve on a cone). In ADT I would draw the profile and then extrude this along a curved path. The tutorials seem to be focussing on roofs that curve in themselves but in plan are straight. This one seems a different animal. I am thinking single slope curved... not standard gables following a curved plan Any ideas would be much appreciated :-) Post edited on 2005-05-14 17:27:05

Could you build the shape you are trying to achieve as a mass model and then do a roof by face? I thnk it should work. It is a fun little trick I just recently learned. HTH Vanessa

Why not just sketch the roof by footprint in plan, and make the arc a slope defining line? This will give you a conical shaped roof.

You have a couple of choices with this. Either do as you explained the ADT approach and build an in-place family, or use a footprint roof and slope define the curve. Make sure you go into the properties of the curve and set the facets to zero, otherwise you will see a segmented roof. This functionality only came in with release 8 so if you have an older release it won't work.
