Hello all,

A quick one this - does anyone know a way to add in components by coordinate (i.e. specify a coordinate and have something appear there) or alternatively to move to a specified coordinate?

I've got to add lots of piles in at given coordinates and moving them is going to take a long time.

Thanks for any help you can give!

Hi, if you create a "Grid" you can insert your "Piles" directlly in the intersection of them (grid)...

The project has been made with a grid.  We've then set up the site to conform to the coordinates from the contractor, which because our site doesn't happen to be aligned North/South don't follow our grid lines.  The piles will also be in all sorts of odd locations (as we're essentially putting in where piles have actually ended up, rather than where they were designed to be).

That's the reason I want to be able to just input a coordinate to create something (I don't mind if it's a column/plane/anything as long as I can then use that location to snap a pile to).

Thanks guys.

If you have a grid setup, when you place your pile you should see temporary dimensions for locating it.  If need be, you can drag those temporary dimensions to the correct grid and enter the offset dimension.

I think the trouble is that there isn't a grid associated with the coordinates.  We'd made the model before the coordinates were done so we've just had to offset the whole site to match.

As we're dealing with numbers like 422000000 x 370000000 and they aren't aligned with the model/grids used then it's nigh on impossible to draw a grid which would suit them.

I wouldn't know how to draw a grid line perpendicular to the nearest coordinates or how to find 0,0 (which would presumably be stupidly far away from the model).

I'm guessing from the responses that entering coordinates in order to locate an object isn't an included functionality.  I think what we'll end up doing is exporting to AutoCAD and finishing the job in there.

 Cheers guys!

Instead of exporting to autocad, I would lay out the locations in autocad and import that as an underlay to place my objects over in REVIT.

The best of both worlds....

In fairness we also looked at that way.  However as most folks out there need a CAD export eventually, we can just use the copy function.  In this particular example the additional details are not required to be part of a model, and are used for 'troubleshooting'.

Thanks again
