i have my windows and doors set into my walls of my model and sat in position, but the cavity closers are not central to the cavity. All of my walls are 100mm block/ 100mm cavity/ 100mm block then ither a cedar boarded finish on timber framing or render finish! if i go into the element properties of my window or door and change it so the cavity closer is set X distance from external then in moves the closer into positon, BUT if i do this for say the rendered wall it would sit the closer in its correct position but then on the other walls with a thicker finish its not sat right!

IS there any way to make it so that the cavity closer constraist is set from the blockwork face of the wall insted of the very external face (finish)   sory if ive explained this crap!

cheers

? ? ?  Graphics would help explain

Maybe you should look at how you can do what you want from inside the door family.

what do you mean by ? ? ? Graphics?

ive been into the door family editor and played around with creating new pararmeters which makes a new box for me in the doors element properties called **cavity closer offset from interal) this works but its only working on one side of the window. the other side the cavity closer is staying put..

What do you mean by cavity closure - do you mean wall closure?

Perhaps the H E L P will answer your questions.  Look at : family editor, wall closure planes and layer wrapping
