I am doing my first project in revit and was wondering how overlapping piping in plan view could be shown so they didn't look like they were all connected together?

fine+hidden line... you may need to adjust your mechanical hidden line settings... depends on the scale of the plan. although if your doing plumbing you may want to use course+wireframe

thanks for the quick response. i've tried making the outside gap larger but it doesn't seem to do anything. is there a specific linetype i should be using so that it shows?

are you doing mechanical piping or plumbing? if it is plumbing i suggest creating new line types (perhaps ones that match your previous standard, you can also import them to a drafting view and when you explode the dwg the line types get added to your line types in revit...pretty convient i say) that then the pipes can be overriden in plan with the use of filters... mechanical piping on the other hand...generally much larger... in your mechanical settings what is the line style? mech hidden? hidden line? lines? i set mine to mech hidden... it really all depends on what you want to see... also something i just thought about too is it really depends on what view you have created to view this piping...if it is an rcp (revit does a true rcp) we have been actually using floor plans for out mechanical plans to get the hvac to show correctly. hth

ok, i've got the hidden lines to work for double line ductwork but for the life of me i can't get my plumbing piping to break either in course or fine setting. i've tried all different combinations of view settings (i.e. course/hidden ....). the one thing i've noticed is that as i was increasing the gap settings for the hidden lines the overlapping pipes wouldn't do anything but the gap would show around fittings (i.e. floor drains). this problem is kicking my butt! thanks in advance if anybody has any other ideas. i'm empty.
