I'm trying to create a door library consisting of doors with different types of iron mongrey, when I place the door into into the project, the ironmongrey, and in some cases the door panel, do not sit in the same position that they were placed in the family model. I understand that it is down to constraints plced upon the items, sadly though I don't know enough to use these properly/effectively, attached is an example of a door I managed to get to work but I know it's not been done properly.

So follow up questions are; If I want to constrain something ie the door panel, do I create reference planes and name them appropriatly? Items like the kickplate, if I want to increase the door width, do I constrain the kickplate to the door panel extrusion or the reference plane the door is locked to?

You must create ref planes in the "Kickplate" then dimension those ref. planes with the ref planes of the door, so, when you increase the door width the "Kickplate" grow up with the door, or you can only dimension th ref. planes of the kickplate and create parameters to them, so in the "Family type" you can change the lenght and width of the kickplate.
