so now that i have my model done, how do i print (or export) it to a certain scale?

Set the scale in the appropriate view/print or place on specific size sheet first...

ok. i just exported it to cad and i'm exporting it to scale from there, but thanks for the advice

Revit always exports at 1:1. If you export a sheet revit will create the viewport with the approriate scale that you have setup in revit.
