we are doing a retirement complex and we are wanting to use the same building over and over so each set of working drawings will be pretty much the same except materials may change. Whats the best way to set this up? Can we link them so that they have the same information on each sheet except for the things that differ eg. details for different materials. or are we best to set up a different file for each building that has different materials and just copy and paste any similar information.

Any help would be much appreciatedSmile

If you're talking about changes to wall finishes, you could group all consistent walls and copy that over and over again, and then have another group with different wall construction for each finish/material option you want.  You can insert these material-option wall groups into your consistent groups and then your material takeoffs and scheduling will be correct.  You also may not have nearly as much stuff to change later on if a wall or door has to be moved.

Wall joins may not work as well though, so I would recommend trying it out on a small scale first.  I know there's definitely other options, perhaps some moderators can elaborate.
