I'm trying to make a parametric roof ladder that will read the top of wall.

Does anyone know how to add a parameter to an object in a wall-based family relating to the "Unconnected Height" of the host wall?? "Unconnected Height" is an already existing instance parameter in each wall so I would think there is some way to access it.

It would be gravy if I could get this family to also read the height where a roof intersects with the wall but I could live without that as long as I could relate to top of wall.

 Thanks,

Dan

I don't think it's possible. Revit doesn't like to relate parameters backward through families or family layers. I think the closest you'll be able to come is making the height alignab;e and locking it up to the top of the wall. That would make sizing each instance faster and if the wall changes height then the object will too. I haven't played with aligning vertically on wall-hosted families, but can't think of why it wouldn't work. Sorry I can't be of more help.
