Hi everyone:

This is kind of a tricky question. Let's see if I have a good explanation.

Say you have a kitchen cabinet, base or upper and you have created a simple family. Now, you create a detail component that is a better representaion of the cabinet so when you cut the section of the family you have a better detail. I know how to do that part. I can even type catalog it. My question is there a way to show dimensions within the family that will grow with my aligned and locked detal component? I also wondered if there is a way to show labels as well. I can't seem to get this funchtion to work. Is it possible to do this at all?

I hope this makes sense.

Thank you!

This is a bit lengthy but works well. You can load your family into a project & make a group of it. Cut sections elevation plans etc. In each view you can add dimensions, notes 2d components etc. After adding information to your views select the original group and other entities (dims notes etc) and group them again. These become a sub group of the original group. this can then be exported as a RFT and be retrieved by using File/Load from Library/Load File as Group. The first image shows OIC TEST.RFT being load & dragged in thru Groups/Model/OIC TEST on the browser. The next image shows the Rft being selected/then Place Detail/ticking the box. The last image shows the results. The add ins can be edited & added to within the project.

Hope this helps
