I have made a light cove profile, but do not know how to give it a light source for the continuous light in the cove. I made the cove a profile so that it is easier to use as a sweep versus having to redraw it every time for every project.

please help.

You need to create a lighting fixture family that corresponds to a the lighting fixture you plan to put into the cove. The lighting fixture family will have the light source built into it, and you can assign an ies file to it if you want to use it in renderings. Then insert as many instances of the fixture family as it takes to fill the cove, just as you would in the real world (that's the nature of Building Information Modeling). Also be sure to set the light source object to Photometric web in element properties, or it won't render properly.

Hope this helps.
