RAC 2009-The 2x4 lay-in troffer fixture that comes with Revit is letting the room volume extend through the fixtures to the next level.  See attached image.  This is screwing up my room volume and the calculated ceiling height column that automatically divides the volume by the area to get the exact ceiling height on my room schedule.  How do you fix this?

RAC 2009-I checked the recessed can fixtures and they also let the room volume extend through the ceiling.  Does anyone know how to make the light fixtures individually or collectively "room bounding?"

Windows cut into walls without violating their room bounding function, why do my light fixtures not do the same?

.........................the problem only exists with the basic ceiling and it went away when I switched to the compound ceiling.  I have no idea why both ceilings wouldn't be equally "room bounding" but that fixed the problem.

Glad you re-posted - this is good information.

The basic ceiling is really no ceiling - that why it has no thickness.  It is there to host ceiling objects. We use it where we have a composite floor with the rated gyp bd on the bottom of joists being our ceiling.   Why this would be any different than a compound ceiling is ????
