I defined the areas i want in my area plans but can't get the info into my floor plans. Is there a tag that creates the link? Can i have custom area boundaries in my floor plans? All I want is to display the total area of a suite. The default room bounding options do not work for me becaues they cannot distuingish between shared partion walls and exterior walls.

Thanks

Areas and rooms are different entities so there is no link.

Room boundary lines will work for you - just turn off room bounding for your walls and use the room boundry lines.

Well, that is my point.

The default room bounding options do not work because they do not distuingish between exterior walls which are measured to the outside face and shared partition walls between suites which are measured to the center line of the wall. I can only choose to go to the outside face or center line or inside face for all walls but not for each individual room bounding wall.

Is there a way to work around that or do I have to define this in the area plan and then manually type it in at my floorplans, which is a bit tedious.

cheers

Sorry - but I don't think you understand.

You can draw area lines anywhere.  You don't need to use the automatic lines.  If you are doing area plans, look at the area schemes options - gross vs rentable.

Ditto for room boundry lines! You can draw them anywhere.  Will they ever become walls dividing rooms?  NO but you can point to them when you are adding walls and you can pre-set if you want the wall centered on the line - the core edge on the line or the inside/outside face on the line.
