The project I'm working on consists of two separate office buildings with, in many cases, identical details. Many of the details for the first building were done in detail views (rather than drafting views). Is there any way to share these details?

Not really. Details are model driven and the components have to exist in the model but you can export to CAD and bring back in as drafting detail.
