whenever i nest a component into a family file and try to view the properties of the "nested", not the family, i get a fatal error message why is that?

Hi, how do we know??? you even don't say what's the version of Revit You are working.... and if you did the Services Packs for 2008 or Web update to 2009, and caracteristics of your machine (OUT-OF-MEMORY) for example....
