4D is the dimension of time or in the architectural industry, construction sequencing or scheduling. Software like Building Explorer, Navisworks or Innovaya can push your Revit authored model into the fourth dimension. Revit can do some construction sequencing, by using phases, but it is very rudimentary compared to the forementioned packages.

In addition of 4D, 5D is also utilized in the Architectural industry; this is the cost dimension. Packages like Timberline and Building Explorer can facilitate this dimension for your Revit model.
