hi all,

i was very happy when someone showed me the little tckbox in the material dialog box which, when ticked

(for a white ceiling ) would magigly show the ceiling white rather than grey.

has autodesk deleted this smart feature ?

if it has, i may have to go back to 2008 as it enhances shaded views to a great extend

can anyone point me in the right direction?

thanks so much

robert

I got this from Alex Page, over at Augi Revit...

Go to Advanced Model Graphics. Tick "Use Sun Position for Shaded Display." Click the "..." button.  Change the Azimuth to 0 degress, and the Altitude to 0 degrees.  Check "Relative to View." Click "Ok."  Make sure Shadows are Off (IMO).  Also, it can help some materials from turning white if, on their "Render Appearance Tab" in the materials dialogue box, that "Use Render Appearance for Shading" is checked.

Amendment...

Shadows On is ok, but you may then need to adjust the Cast Shadows Contrast setting.

This is a brilliant tip, I have been trying to get my whole model white for presentation drawings and was only getting grey walls when clearly the material assigned was white ehite white white!

 Thanks a million!
