Is there a way to make an extruded family show up as a single line on framing plans?  I have created some wood trusses families by creating extrusions.  When I put them on the plan, you see the entire member (i.e. the 1.5" width for a 2x4 roof truss or 3.5" width for a 2x4 floor tuss) and also see the web members.  I know for bar joist families they will show up as lines.

When you create the family (or now edit the family) you can control the visibilty of what you see in "Corse, medium and Fine" mode....

Thanks, but how would you go about doing that?  Sorry but I am very new to Revit.

I followed your steps and now have the model lines showing on the plan like I wanted.  However, the truss lines are still showing up.  I have turned off everything except Analytical Model in VG.

And in the family you don't create any line in the truss? because if you turn off (in VG) ALL except Analytical Model, ONLY the analitical model lines must show up, but edit the family and select the extrusions of what you want and in "Visibility" uncheck "Medium and Fine" so, only in COARSE Mode you can see the elements, if in the proj. you change the view plan for "Medium or Fine"  the elem. don't show....

That fixes my problem with them showing up on the plan, but in section cuts I need to see the trusses in Medium or Fine".

You can control that in the "Visibility", you have the parameters from "Plan, Cut...." - "coarse, Medium...", so....
