Is there a way to dimension to the mid point of a detail line? For example, in a detail I have a rectangle drawn and I want to dimension to the mid points on two sides in the x and y axes off of parallel walls. I have been drawing small tick marks but that is annoying for so many reasons. Thanks

You can dimension to endpoints as long as you start from a perpindicular plane or line but not to mid-points.

I don't understand why you want to do this but that is not mine to say.  If you did expand on that maybe we could give you alternatives.

When I am in the Drafting mode and doing 1 1/2" details and I am drawing a square escutcheon for a faucet and need to locate its center off of walls it sure would be nice to measure to the center of the fixture without wasting my time to actually create the faucet as an object just so I can measure the mid point. A mid point on a line has a real location, I don't understand why Revit can't allow a dimension string to pick it up.

I would think you have enough need here that this could be a family element.  If the family has invisible lines in the center, you can dimension to those.
