I would like to keep all the layer mapping files (used when exporting to AutoCAD) in one place on our server, rather than on each workstation's C drive. Is there a way to change the default file path for these files?

We are using Revit 2009 in the UK.

You can set them under File > Import/Export Settings > export layers DWG/DXF....

You can then choose a network resource. Once it is set, it should default to the file you choose. Is is also available under options when you choose to export a file: Export > Cad formats >Option > Layer Settings > load

Is that what you are after?

Kind of... I might be wrong, but new files do not adopt the previously-selected layer mapping file automatically. Also when you export and click the 'Load' button from the Export Layers dialog box you are taken to a file location on the local machine. I want the default layer mapping file to be our own, and I want the default file path to the layer mapping files to be on our server rather than the local machine.

we point it to one on the network and after that it defaults to that one no matter what. Weird... Do you have write "rights" to your revit.ini file?

Sorry I can't help more

I don't know about write rights, knowing our system, probably not. Have you checked to see if it defaults to the network on new files as well as when reopening existing ones? I have to say I can't do this at the moment because someone has pinched my licence.
