Can someone help me out here.  I have a case where there is a high beam HSS parapet support above my roof beam.  They are both located in line on a grid line.  I have these members modeled accurately.  I would like to show both of these beams in plan.  Typically in CAD, I would offset 6" and show a zero dimension.  However, in Revit, if i offset the beam it will be offset in the model.  Any ideas on how to do this?  Thanks in advance.

I'm not structural but why would you not simply add a line + your annotations? Not everything has to be a model element as proven by the fact that in cad you use a line offset to the side.

I would assume that if this is like REVIT Architecture, since you have both beams modeled, you can have both beams tagged ....

I assume you are referring to using a detail line for showing the offset beam.  I can't really "TAG" that can I.  I would just have to add a text label, right?

I knew I could draw a line but didn't know if there was any other way around it.

Thanks,

You can tag both beams - even though one is below the other.  And I would assume that like architecture, your tag can have a free end so you can point to the detail line.  In this way, you don't have to fake your annotations and they remain parametric.  If you change the beam size, the tag will change even though it may point to the line.
