doin some hvac work and am using metric and imperial units. i would liek my metric units to be rounded to whole numbers rather than being exact conversions of imperial. so if i have 12"/12" duct it would read 300/300 rather than 304.8/304.8. i want every 2" to equal to 50mm example: 2"=50 3"=75 4"=100....12"=300 13"=325....48"=1200 49"=1225....etc etc. how would i do that for my labels in duct tags  and for dimensions. im assuming its some sort of formula but nto sure.

In both the tag and the dimension you have to uncheck "Use Project Settings" and in both cases you can tell Revit that you dont want any decimals.  So for the 12"/12" duct it would try and push 305/305.    The only way to get this conversion (that I am aware of) to read 12"/12" and also 300/300 is done in the tag and I dont know how to do it for a dimension other than just text...but in the tag you can add a new parameter so that "Height Meters" is equal to (Height/2" )*50 and "Width Meters" is equal to (Width/2" )*50 to get it to do the conversion that you want and then you can manipulate the tag to look like you want.

As for dimensions I am unsure of how to do this if it is possible at all.

going along what broncos said, I know you could make a formula that would output the units you wanted (basically taking the # of inches * 25)  but you would lose the units in the conversion.  You might be able to add the units on later but then the conversion is really jerked around crazy.  Probably more trouble then its worth.

I actually dont think me doing it will work for you.  The parameters you have to add are "Shared Parameters" which link in from a file that you have there at work, and if I added from mine they would get lost when I gave the tag back to you.  I can try to walk you through more specific on how to do that and make a video if you would like... I dont have time till tomorrow afternoon to do that though.  Let me know if you want me to try that.

thats what i thought. if its no hassle for you then a video or even just step by step instructions will be fine. im working and learning the program. and lucky me the first project has to be a difficult one with multiple units. haha. alright man. thanks for the help.

I was incorrect about being able to do this, as ducts are a system family and there is little control with those.  It can be parametric and read 305/305 or you could just make it a label and just type in the 300 or whichever you want, but I cant get it to calculate your inches*25 because it is a system family.   Sorry about that.

YEAH TEH ONLY THING I WAS ABLE TO DO WAS TO GET IT TO ROUND TO THE NEAREST 25 OR SO BUT THEN AT A CERTAIN POINT IT WOULDNT MATCH MY 25=1" WOULD END UP ROUNDING HIGHER THAST WHY. THANKS ANYWAYS. I WAS JUST TRYING TO AVOID ALL THE EXTRA TYPING.
