Firstly, I've already used the mighty search function and didn't come up with anything.

This is a bit complicated.  We have 2 offices about 75 miles apart.  The home office has a Domain Server (Server A) in it (Windows SBS Server 2003) and the satellite office has a File Server (Server B) CryingWindows Server 2003) in it.  All Project information is stored and managed on the Server A in the Home Office.  Applicable projects are "replicated" using DFS (Distributed File Sharing) to Server B in our satellite office.  So, for XYZ project, all the data resides on both Server A and Server B and DFS makes sure that they both match.  It works beautifully.

Enter Revit Structure 2009 in both offices.  Both offices hoping to work on the same project at the same time.  When I enable worksharing, the Central File now resides both on Server A and on Server B (identical), but the Local copies get all jacked up because they see 2 different UNC paths.  So it just doesn't work.

Clear as mud?

If anyone has any ideas or can offer any good suggestions, it would be much appreciated.  I love worksharing.  It works great here in the home office . . . but the REVIT gods seem to get really upset when I replicate the Central file to another server.

HELP!!

I don't see any way this can work .... but I'm not an IT person.

It's not a duplicate file - data problem - it's how REVIT works.  When you are working with worksets, REVIT is in constant communication with the central file.  It has to keep track of who is working with what and constantly allows/disallows users access to various parts of the file.

I'm with ya.

Maybe it's just wishful thinking.  DFS works really well for us and I was hoping to find a way to make worksharing work using that.

Maybe I'll try just leaving the Central File on Server A (home office) and have the guys in the satellite office save to it via a VPN.  I'm not sure how good the performance would be.

I'm currently reading thru AutoDesk's "Revit Platform 2009 Technical Note for Model Performance".  There are some good ideas in there.

I think worksets will still work for you but probably as two seperate files that someone updates periodically.  Look on the threads about working remotely.  If you checkout the workstes and keep things clean, one office can work on some aspects while the other office does others.
