could some explain how this works...I was under the impression that it could be toggled on/off and values where associated to this parameter...but doesn't seem to work that way...need a little help

You can asign something the yes/no parameter if you want to have the choice of showing or not showing something that is apart of the given family. when you go to the element properties of the certain thing that you want to have this control over, you select the box to the far right of where it says 'visibility'. you will then see this box in the project when you go to the family's element properties and you can check or uncheck it as an instance or type (however you decide to make it)
