Does anyone have an idea of how to create a glass block wall or better yet does someone already have one created that would be willing to share? There is only one small problem, the design of this wall will include several different "colored or textered" blocks within one wall to make a random pattern. Is this possible or do we have to treat each "color/texture" as a seperate wall?

In your Revit mateiral library there is already a glass block material that you can use. If you want different colored glass then try using mosaic tile material but adjust the transparency value as the default is opaque. If there are random patterns use split face tool then paint it with your desired material. Post edited on 2005-04-19 08:59:27

You could also use the curtain wall and setup a system to have a particular vertical and horizontal grid spacing. Then swap out the panels for those that are of the glass block depth and of the appropriate material. Personally though it would be less overhead to the model to do it Arnel's way.

I actually ended up just creating a family for the glass block and we copied and stacked it around. That way we could just select the appropriate ones the needed to be changed for the random pattern. I've attached my glass block file for anyone you wants it.

Is there a way that i could insert that Glass block into a curtain? I would liket o creat a curved long wall with glass blocks, and stacking them individaully could take a while.

Anys suggestions?

Jut use the regular wall with the glass block as your material.  It can be curved ... It is after all basically the same as concrete block... individual units with mortar joints - just somewhat transparent.

OK totally ignoramus newbie here.  How do you modify the glass brick in Revit so that it will be 8X8X4 like the one readily available at store and also how do you create that grout line which is about 1/2 " thick.  Haven't had much success with curtain wall tool in doing that.   basically I am trying to draw that glass block window in the pic.

doesn't work well as it is not adjustable and definately not the right size.  Neither was I able to remove 2 columns of the glass block.  I'd make an array from scratch if I was able to find an accurate object and knew how to make teh grout line.

There might be some flaws with this family (Idk), but what do you mean it’s not adjustable? It looks like everything is adjustable but thickness of the grout.

OK, I see no parametric arrow to grab and stretch or my favorite, boxes in which to change teh heighs and widths of the blocks.  Now when I am on interior view there is a box for block height and when I change it to 8" from 6", It just changes the lines in the interior and not teh exterior.  BTW, I don't need 4 block wide only two, how do I get rid of the other two?

I have been able to change the height of teh block but that is it.
