Very simple 1. date time and place this is going to use the correct altitude and azimuth for the specific Place and time, The sun changes angles and altitude depending on its location and time of the year 2. azimuth/altitude What this allows you to do is pick a random azimuth( angle) and a altitude( angle) its not specific to a location.

Hi, first of all, if you want to put the "Right shadows" on your model you must rotate before, your model to the "True North", if you don't do that, Revit assumes the model are in the right position, after you had your model rotate to the true model you can go to the level and turn on the shadows in that level and, if you want, create a solar studie for that level...

Apology I new to this amazing Revit software. Ok I went to Tools/ProjectPosition/Orientation /Rotate true north Now that I have rotated the whole project to true north, on each plan and site plan do I need to right click/ properties and change from “Project to True North” as well. Also in sun study still what do I pick to achieve shadows from all 3 levels not just one and what does Ground plane mean? Im obviously trying to cast the shadow on the site plan.

Hi, if you have already rotate the WHOLE model to the "True North" you don't need to go to each level and do it again, because you just rotate the WHOLE MODEl, if you want cast shadows in the Site Level so go to this level, put the shadows ON and you can change the parameters for location, day, month, year and so one... The Ground Plane is when you don't have a toposurface and you tell Revit to project the shadows to the Ground level- (Floors, slabs), if you have for e.g. 3 levels and you want to project the shadows in the 2 level you choose in ground plane - level 2...
