Hi all,

im trying to create a tag for signage options in revit 2008 that will act much like a window or door tag. so far ive tried created a tag using "generic model tags", "generic annotations", and also modifing a door tag. Most of the information ive included with the tag works fine and it shows up in a shedule the way i would like. the only problem im having is i would like the tags to sequentially add a number for the tag as i add more, the same way a window or a door tag would. does anybody know how to add this parameter to text in a family? i will add the file if you like but i think its pretty simple so i didnt bother.

thanks much.

If I understand you correctly, I don't think you really don't want to use family tags for this because you have to have an instance of the family in the model.  Look into keynotes.

If not .... Door tags and grids do number automatically from the last number used but they are the only ones.  You could create an simple family with an invisible line in it that could be face base and that you could insert where you want a tag.  This tag could read a mark number that you would have to change after placement.  Sees like a lot of work when a simple note will do.

actually i do have a family for the tag in the model. the tag references the family, so i was hoping there was a way to have revit number the tags automatically. i am using a mark number currently in the family but like you said i have to change it manually.  this is for a signage package for a stadium so there will be several signs on the plan, it would save us alot of time if we didnt always have to number the signs individually.

Sorry ... these tags will not number automatically.
