I am preparing the Revit drawing for submission but I faced a problem. My wall has to have a solid fill pattern of black in normal view. However, as a brick wall I have to show it in red color with hatch pattern for detail view. Then as a submission to fire safety department, I need to show the in solid fill pattern of green color. Displayed as attached. Someone suggested using view template. How do I made use of it? What other way can I get desired results. Tx.

In 2008 and later, you can select all of the walls in the view you need to be special, right click and choose over ride graphics in view, by element and change the fill pattern there to the solid color you need.

My personal suggestion would be to politely suggest to your local building permit authorities that they get over themselves and standardize with each other.  But, until that day comes I would also suggest setting up view templates with graphic overrides.  You may also want to try Filters, since they will give you more control over the specific  types of walls (ie: you can have a filter called "Brick Walls" and set it up so that it affects only brick walls).  You can save filter settings in View Templates, so that makes it a bit easier to set up specific views.

If you haven't already, I would also setup individual views of the plans for each authority you have to submit to if they are going to have that differing amount of standards.  You can then apply each view template to each type of drawing.  Be sure to save these view tmplates into your project template once you have them setup the way you like it so that they are present in all new projects you begin in the future.

HTH!

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a land war in asia, but only slightly less well known is this! Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!
