is there a way to leave the possibility of moving the label from its predefined position in a light fixture family instance by instance? (sometimes conflicting with other notations in RCP). see attached family as reference. Thanks.

I would take a completely different approach to identifying light fixtures (or anything else inside of Revit). Revit is a database and as such when you insert a family it will have properties that are appropriate to the type of family that it is. In your case the way I would do it is take the annotation "F8" out of the light fixture family and instead set the family property of "type mark" to F8. Then in an RCP, make sure you load a light fixture tag that reports the "type mark" from the light fixture family. Tags can be moved in position to get out of the way of other things and have the ability to have a leader on them. Revit also makes it easy to simply "tag all" of any object, check under the drafting bar. HTH Tom

This is for sure a better approach. Thank you very much for your clear explanation.
