Hi, I am new here. Here is a question I didn't find answer yet...

I created a work sharing project for a mixed-use building. I set up categories as 'envelop', 'grids and level', 'structure' and 'temp work'.   It worked well until now that we have completed SD and will get into DD soon. The file has become very large and slow. I am thinking that I'd better rip the structure part (which has been carefully designed and won't change a lot), and put it in a separate file, then link it back to main project.  (I don't want to turn off the 'structure' workset is because the structure part is critical in sections.)

The way I think might work, is to copy/cut the structure model + the grid & level, put it into a new project. However, I can't do this.  I didn't find export function for this purpose, and every time I do (windows) copy & paste, Revit froze.  Sad

Anyone know how to do this? Any suggestion will help. -- I am using Revit Architecture 2008.

put all of your structure into a model group then with it selected us the link command on the options bar. It will create a seperate file of just the model group that is linked back in.

Thank you, alabaster2513. It worked perfectly.

After I created the linked revit file, I copied grids into it from main file. Now I get a linked workset, with seperate MEP and structure files that I can assign to different disciplines. Feel really good!
