i looked for this thread to no avail, sorry im sure its somewhere =/ for my exterior finish i need it to go above the core of the wall, however, when i unlock the top of the finish in the wall properties, it gives me an error: Cannot extend layer(s) of the highlighted vertically compound wall. however it will allow me to extend the bottom of the exterior. anyone know why?

I don't know if this will help, but in my case I had a wall of stucco, CMU and gyp board interior finish. The wall has an opening with a curtain wall in it. I needed to bring the GB down below the roof level. I unlocked the GB but got that error message when I got past a certain point. Looking at it in section I when stretching the GB above the opening down it was also causing the GB below the opening to move down, I could only go as far as the the height below the opening and got that error. I found splitting the wall at the top of opening cured this. It doesn't seem to have any detremmental effects. If I move the top piece, the bottom piece moves with it.
