spent about 3 hours in the Revit plot dialogue boxes and hp430 printer preferences dialogue box; feel like I can't even tie my shoes !!

sometimes I get the middle 3/5ths of the titleblock sheet with the same portion of the drawing

sometimes I get a portion of the drawing with no title block

Not really seeing any information in Revit "help" menu.

Where's the absolute first place to start for satisfactory plotting??

Hey,

Pick the appropriate size paper in the settings menu, and if it is half size then zoom 50 percent, full size then zoom 100 percent.

sometimes if you define margins at 0 that can work better then center plot (although center plot is most times)

file>print>set-up>offset from corner>no margins

can't quite get my titleblock to completely show up when plotting.

I've included a screen shot showing plot preview and dialogue box settings.

Any thoughts,

thanks

randy

You forgot the screen shot.

If your plot driver is just not friendly to REVIT, you might look at using something like CutePDF writer to make a PDF which you can then print to the plotter.  We use this program for plot files which we send to our commercial print company.

Have you got the latest plot driver for your plotter loaded?  This should not be as hard as you are having.  Rember, this is not autocad.  Either just plot full size on the correct size paper or plot to fit/zoomed on whichever paper you pick.

I am not sure what size paper you are plotting on but I noticed you had picked ANSI C (17x22) is this the same sise as your title block? The title block offset should be 1/4" to 1/2" from the right depending on your plotter.

good point.

trying to plot on 18 x 24

I can't pick that size from the plot dialogue box. only option is for c size is 17 x 22.

should I just resize my title block or is there a way to access an 18 x 24 sheet through the plot dialogue box.  I suppose that would be the custom size paper settings?

we have an older hp design jet 430 (black and white printer) if that matters

You can go into the properties and create any paper size you want by picking custom paper size and give it a name. Then use that size paper for your plots. I am not sure what the bigger companys use but I use ANSI D 22 x 34 so I can print at 50% on 11 x 17 on my office printer for reviewing before the final plot.
