On version 2009 is there a way to hide the view name that appears by default in the circular elevation tag? I did not experience this problem in version 2008.

By accessing the Elevation Tag type properties dialogie, you can modify this parameter:

Settings > View Tags > Elevation Tags

-Choose the 1/2' Circle (or create a new type)

-Uncheck the "Show view name" parameter

-Hit ok till you're back at the canvas, view names should be gone now.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a land war in asia, but only slightly less well known is this! Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!
