I am using Revit MEP 2009. I have linked an architectural revit file into a new project file. Everything is visible, except for the annotation elements. I have gone into VG and set the display settings for revit links to "custom". And I have checked the annotations category and all items are checked.

what kind of annotations are you referring to?  Actual annotation families?  Dimensions?  Text notes?  What you'll notice mostly is that the views from the Architectural model do not appear in the project browser.  Since all annotations are view specific, they will not be visible in the MEP model.

What are you trying to accomplish as far as coordination between Arch and MEP here?

Thank you for the reply.

- I am specifically referring to "Room Tag" annotations that the architect has placed in the "Floor Plans - First Floor Plan" view (Element Properties: Family: Room Tag, Type: Room Tag). I am just a beginner, but I think this is an acutal annotation family, because if I open the architect's revit file and navigate to Families>Annotation Symbols>Room Tag>Room Tag and create an instance of it, it looks and behaves just like the ones that are present in the revit file.

- So, are you saying that is impossible to view the linked room tags? So, do I have to manually place my own room tags, and make sure to open the architect's updated revit file each time there is an update to make sure the room tags have not changed? If so, I tried to create an instance of the room tags (inside my electrical revit file), but I got a message saying that rooms are not currently visible in this view, do you want to make them visible - so I clicked yes, but nothing happened when I tried to click to place the room tag, I just keep getting prompted to "Click to place room tag". I could just import autocad room names, but that seems to defeat the whole purpose of 'automation' of Revit.

- I am simply trying to be able to set up an electrical floor plan that shows the architect's room names when I plot it out. I would like the room names to be linked so they automatically update when the revit file gets updated.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Update:

Now I am able to view the linked door tags and dimensions, but still not the room tags. I went to VG<Revit Links>Display Settings and I changed the "Linked View" to "Floor Plans - First Floor Plan" (I thought I tried that before and nothing changed). This is so frustrating!!!

Thanks for updating us on this.  The best learning moments I've had in Revit are those "DOH!" moments!  What I took away from this is that when someone says they checked "VG" I should still ask them if they checked the linked model VG settings! :D

Glad you got it squared away.
