i want to create a roof constructed with double t precast concrete. how do i go about doing this? i made a family for it as a component but when it comes to attaching walls to it the walls cannot attach to a component. i managed to edit the profiles of the walls to match the slope of the wall on the gable ends(west and east) but when it came to the other walls(north and south) i couldnt get the heights to the correct elevation. suggestions?

Draw the outline for the roof as required, and then select "roof properties". Duplicate (Edit/New-->Duplicate) the roof and name it whatever you want. Under the tab "Construction", you should see structure. In here is where you create the materials for your roof. You can change the thickness, structure and the function of the structure. You may need to create a material for your precast concrete, but some generic concrete materials are already available. The edit assembly (picture) is where you create each roof. Dont create roofs as a component.

timbo89 thanks for your input but thats not what im trying to do. i know how to do all that already. im talking about how to create a custom precast concrete double t roof. double t refers to the profile. attached is an image of what im trying to draw. i tried roo by face and skecthing out the profile but that did not come out because it made a uniform thickness on all my skecth lines. for the sketch lines of the bottom part of the t shape it obviouslt cant be the same thickness as the flat top of the t shape.

Oh wow sorry about that. In my experience it isnt possible. You'll have to create a beam system and create a custom beam that reflects your double t concrete. You could use the linework tool to change the thickness of your beam.
