Im using Revit Architecture 2008 and have 42 different columns to place.  There are three different angles associated with each column.

Angle A:  Rotation in the X-Y plane (easy enough)

Angle B:  "Tilt Plane" This is the angle of the plane the column will tilt in (perpendicular to the X-Y plane) and different than Angle A

Angle C:  Angle the column will tilt in the Tilt Plane

Instead of creating 42 different columns, I am trying to create a family with those three parameters to make my life easier.  I was going to create a sweep with the designated column size so it will change the tilt of the column as a I change the parameters.

Is this too complicated for Revit or am I overthinking this?

If these columns are exposed, your problem will not be the column but the ends of the column.  Whichever you coose - sweep or extrusion, the shape will be perpendicular to the "path" which may not be what you want at the "top".

I would probably just model these as an extrusion witha parametric length.  I would also make sure to uncheck the always vertical box in the family.  Once place vertically, you could create temporary views that would allow you to tilt them in the two different directions you need.

Unfortunately when I create a temp elevation to rotate in the tilt plane, Revit changes Angle A to be perpendicular to the temp elevation therefore defeating the purpose.
